Venous Reflux Disease

What is Venous Reflux Disease?

Venous Reflux Disease, also known as venous insufficiency, is when the valves in the lower extremities become weak or are damaged and do not close properly, causing the blood to flow backwards and pool in the lower extremities.

Venous reflux disease affects nearly 24 million Americans. It can be identified by visible varicose veins, pain, swollen limbs, leg heaviness, and fatigue, as well as skin changes and ulcers.
