What is an Aortogram?
An Abdominal Aortogram is designed to help cardiologists find areas in your blood vessels that could be experiencing complications, such as narrowing or closing or even an abdominal aneurysm.
Patients that experience pain in their legs when they walk often suffer from some kind of vascular issue. An aortogram can help doctors get a better idea of the complications and how they can be fixed. Fatty deposits often build up in the blood vessels, which can complicate and block blood flow.
During an Aortogram, doctors will thread a narrow, flexible plastic tube or a catheter, through the arteries where the issues are arising. The tube is equipped with non-toxic x-ray dye to give doctors a better look at the artery and help them find any blockages.
