Peripheral Vascular Interventions
Peripheral vascular intervention refers to the procedures used to help clear blocked arteries in the arms and legs.
Peripheral vascular interventions help remove the plaque buildup and ultimately allow for proper blood flow to the limbs. These procedures are medical specialties that are designed to treat peripheral artery disease without surgically opening any limbs.
Peripheral vascular intervention involves inserting a catheter (a thin tube) into the blood vessel through a small incision. This allows the doctor to properly insert a stent and perform an angioplasty or atherectomy.
